The List!

A database of bonafide ecologically sound, sustainable and organic businesses and wine estates is currently being created. As soon as this is completed the relevant information will be supplied on this site as well as links to the entire database. Many thanks are due to Glen for this research. Due to lack of funding we are unable to claim that these are the only ecologically sound wines in South Africa.

Horrible Truth

During a recent holiday to the western cape I visited several Wine Estates in the Franschhoek area. As a Canadian tourist I was very impressed by the beauty of the area and delicious wine. What was shocking was seeing the condition of the shanty towns in which so many people live. Our holiday was not cheap and yet none of this money seems to go to the communities you mention in your site. I will only be buying the wines you recommend on your site from now on.

There is one place in Franschhoek called Klein Genot where they have a spa, restaurant and guest house on the wine farm. The nicest part is that the food they serve has been grown on their farm. I went there last week for a small break and it was fantastic, (especially the spa).
